Why is There More Trading Volume at the Beginning & End of the Day?

Most often, people have different timelines they’re adhering to when thinking about trading in the stock market. However, when something happens within the market during the day or overnight (or in the European Stock Markets) it tends to influence people to take action during the day or night trade – which is why you see so much volume at those hours.

There is usually a large influx of trading volume at the beginning of the day is from traders examining what transpired during the night or with other stock markets around the world. Because there is a lot of movement during the day, this also propels a large influx of trading volume at the end of the day as people make decisions based on what happened over the course of the day.

Something else to consider are the timelines of traders. People who are going in and out of the stocks all the time will influence the volume of the beginning and end of the day.
